Threw letter!

Wanted to.

I've planned to give my letter on 1 Nov so that my last day would be 31 Jan, so I can get the full salary for the whole of Jan.

My boss wasn't in office on 31 Oct anyway.

BUT.

I didn't know she would be on leave for the next 4 days.

So I sms her that I will be sending her the soft copy and cc HR. She asked me to put on hold first, and that she'll call me. Even requested me to get out of the office while we talk on the phone because the rest in the office would hear.

She said she's shocked. I'm even more shocked that she's shocked.

"Give yourself another year." That's what she said in March when I told her I wanted to transfer to another department.

Somehow I've been sending out the wrong signal OR she's been receiving the wrong signal that I'M DAMN ENJOYING MY WORK.

Pui.

And she went on about how I'm THE ONE in her succession planning, how she's been telling the big bosses about my progress and my work, how she think that my 名聲 will be "響亮亮" when I leave this place if I stay till I become the manager.

Always be skeptical. That's my policy.

Why should I believe you?

You said that you would help me get upgraded and even asked from me a list of my achievements and duties so far. In the end what happened? I don't even know what the hell happened. The upgrading and promotion exercise just quietly finished. I didn't get any letter or answer from you that our department didn't get the quota that's why I'm not upgraded.

Why should I believe you? Do you even know the meaning of "staff interest"?

I think all managers should be 100% sure that the person you are grooming in your succession planning actually IS interested to be in your little plan. How to be 100% sure? ASK.

She kept repeating that she chose me because "我看人每次都很準的". That's about YOU. Again. Never about other people.

She knows that I haven't found a job yet. So she started to bite on it and said that if I'm worried about the 3 months' notice, she could approve me for early release if I find a job, while I continue to be in my current position.

Let me see.

Your know that your staff wants to quit this freaking place. You know she hasn't got a job yet. And you actually are willing to pay her salary till she find herself a job and let her go 1 or 2 months instead of 3 months later?

As a Cantonese saying goes, where got such a big toad jumping around in the street???

My guess of her intentions:

1) She's trying to make herself look less bad because my colleague just quite a month ago. It'll really look quite bad if 2 out of 3 of your staff quit after one another --- Do you think I care?

2) She's really trying to make me stay and become the manager --- I need another 5 grades to become a manager. Upgrading is twice per year and people usually get upgraded once per year. She already didn't do the upgrading for me this July, why should I believe she'll do for me in subsequent exercises? Somemore she knows I'm going to quit. Another 5 years in this freaking company and this freaking department under her? I don't think so.

3) She simply likes me --- That's really none of my business also, since it's one-sided. Very one-sided.

She kept repeating that she wants to talk to her boss, whom I really have no idea who she was referring to, since she could have just told me which of the Ps she was going to tell. Kept saying "my boss". Fine I shall see what you are going to tell me after your little talk with your boss.

Meanwhile I just apply whatever I see that interests me, but unfortunately none of them got back to me so far.

Even if I were to stay in the same line, I would rather go to another company. New environment, new boss, new company structure without all these ridiculous KPIs.
